Our Story
Zaya & Kai is a lifestyle brand at the forefront of the slow fashion movement in Byron Bay. We work towards a more sustainable future in fashion, working with fully compostable fabrics that will break down in 60 days when handles correctly. Together we're changing the world, one dress at a time.
Our Founder
"It all started in my bedroom back in 2018. Friends around me was starting to have babies and I fell in love with the beautiful tiny clothing I suddenly saw everywhere I looked. Having always been interested in textile design and living in tune with nature, it was a no brainer where life was heading.
For the next 5 years I've taught myself business, design and of course ceramics managed to find their way in as well. For years I had a market stall every weekend in and around the Byron Shire and over the years this label has grown to become available both online as well as in retail stores across Australia, America and Europe. The range now includes sustainable pieces for both women, children as well as gritty ceramics handmade by myself in sunny Byron Bay.
I'm so excited to share our journey with you all, introducing our newest products and technologies and doing our part in being the change."
Love,
Maria x
